After a week of rest, Marcus got back up on the bike, and he was off, riding independently! Ellen and Johan followed him on the skateboard.
After a little practice of kicking to get the bike moving (different from training wheels, where he just picked up both feet and started pedaling), we removed the hockey stick. The neighbors came out to try--here's Mali chasing Marcus.
Of course, Marcus wanted to teach Ellen, too.
Today, we took off the training wheels and attached an old hockey stick to the back for two-wheel training... 
... and success!

Marcus and Ellen attended the first half hour of the ceremony before RJ took them home for a reasonable bed time. Here they are, dressed and ready to go--Marcus in his newly-purchased tie (his idea), and Ellen in a beautiful hand-me-down.

We received a package with new clothes and snacks for the kids, which they immediately wanted to put on--thanks, Grandma Kathy!
We did manage to get out once for a trip to the zoo with Mali and Sevi.
Marcus got (and quickly was up and riding) a two-wheeled scooter, which is especially fun at the school park with a lot of open asphalt to speed around.
Of course, Ellen wanted to be just like her big brother.
Our friends briefly visited the mainland, and the kids had fun riding all our little vehicles.
Luckily it was warm enough for the wiggly sprinkler and outdoor grilling.
